Technician Spotlight: Sarah Brimhall
What is your position and city location with BioTek?
Clinical Lab specialist in Corvallis Oregon.
What is the best thing that happened to you at work this month?
Thus far most patient's I encounter either are terrified of shots and won't even consider therapy or don't really seem to have an issue learning to give themselves shots. I had my first patient who was really nervous and hesitant to give herself the shots but we were able to go slow and work through it and now she does it just fine. It felt good to be able to help her.
What is the number 1 reason you joined BioTek?
I wanted to do something that helps people and this is my first medical job I wanted to see how I liked it and if I could see a career for myself in the medical field.
What has been your favorite patient success story?
A patient who had really bad asthma and allergy symptoms hearing about much the therapy helped him and how much better he felt after the therapy.
What piece of advice would you give to other BioTek Allergy techs/locations?
My clinic has patient responsibility so I have a really hard time getting patients to accept therapy when they usually have to pay a good amount out of pocket. I would say to just try and test as many people as possible in hopes that at least a few will accept treatment.
What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
My parents taking me to a theater production of Phantom of the Opera for my birthday. My boyfriend taking me to my first concert ever.
What is your favorite family tradition?
Don't really have any traditions. But always enjoy getting together with my family for holidays and events.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Future me so I can see how things turn out in the long run and where I wind up.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Disneyland and Hawaii were my favorite trips so far but there's a lot of other places I'd like to go so it's hard to say my favorite place.
What are you passionate about?
Traveling and pursuing my career.
