What is your role with BioTek?
CLS / LPN, Portland/ Tigard OR
What is the best thing that happened to you at work this month?
This month I had a patient going into month 3 & 4 of treatment and they said that they already felt so much better. With allergy season hitting they have not had the severe symptoms that they usually get. I think that is my favorite part of this job is the great feedback from patients.
What is the number 1 reason you joined BioTek?
I joined Bio Tek to experience something new in my field of study. It was just the right opportunity at the right time in my life and I don’t regret it for a second. This has been a great experience so far.
What has been your favorite patient success story?
I have a teenage patient that was relying on antihistamines and inhalers daily, she said I want to do this so I can breathe easier. She is in month 5 and says her quality of life has improved so much and she is so excited to continue therapy. She can breathe so much easier, she is off the antihistamines, using her inhalers much less, and loving life again.
What piece of advice would you give to other BioTek Allergy techs/locations?
Know your antigens that you are working with, patients love to talk and ask questions. It makes for more knowledgeable and easy conversation; the patients are more at ease and even get excited about starting the therapy.
What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
My kids give the best gifts, I couldn’t name one. They are so thoughtful and always give me something from the heart and usually handmade, those are the best gifts.
What is your favorite family tradition?
We are a camping family; we don’t go on a lot of vacations, so we made it our tradition to use our vacation time camping together.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Honestly, there is no one I would trade places with for a day in our time. I would however trade places with Esther from the bible. She is in my favorite story in the bible and to live one day in her life, in that time, and to witness what she saw and lived through would be so eye opening and amazing.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
My favorite place in the world is on a beach anywhere in the world with my family. The beach is our happy place free of stress, worries and everyday life.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about GOD, my family, and reading.
